Mrs. Ivelyn Ann Baker was known as many things to many people. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Ann will be remembered as an outstanding individual.

       She was the daughter of John and Ava Nell Vernay. Ann grew up in New Port Richey, Florida.

      Ann was raised with one sister. She had a sister, Barbara Jean. Ann was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her siblings. She and her siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.

      A typical teenager, Ann had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. She graduated from Gulf High School in 1968.

      On April 4, 1970 Ann exchanged wedding vows with James Michael Baker at First Baptist Church of New Port Richey, Florida. Empathic and loyal, Ann was committed to making her new family happy.

      Ann worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Ann was blessed with two children, Richard and Jessica. Another blessing for Ann was the gift of three grandchildren, Isaiah, Jonah and Lily Ann.

      Fortunately, Ann enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Ann worked diligently and did her best to succeed in her career. Her primary occupation was a para-porfessional. She was employed with Mountain Park Elementary for 21 years. Ann always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.

      Ann enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Her favorite pursuits were traveling, fishing & golfing. She was content to enjoy her favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share her interests with others.

      Throughout her life, Ann was a doer and was always actively involved in professional and community organizations. Throughout her later years, Ann was an active member of the Welcome Hill Baptist Church and Shallowford free Will Baptist Church.

      Ann's faith was important to her. She was a charter member of Shallowford Free Will Baptist Church. During that time, she was involved in the Women's Missionary Union and other activities of the the church.

      Though she never set out to gain individual recognition, Ann was given accolades for her many and varied accomplishments throughout her life. Some of her most prestigious awards included "Best Grandma Ever".

      Ann enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for her to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. Favorite vacations included trips to Mexico beach, Florida with family and close friends.

      Ann passed away on February 25, 2009 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. Ann succumbed to a massive heart attack. She is survived by husband, Mike; children, Richard and Jessica; grandchildren, Isaiah, Jonah and Lily Ann; sister, Barbara Jean; aunts, uncles and cousins. Services were held at Shallowford Free Will Baptist Church, Marietta, Georgia. Ann was laid to rest in Westview Cemetery, Nashville, Georgia.

      Simply stated, Ann was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Ann leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Mrs. Ivelyn Ann Baker.
